About us

BearAs a very young boy before I was able to hunt I could often be found building my own bows and arrows out of branches, butcher twine and burdock stalks. I hunted the squirrels and sparrows in the back yard for years and would be filled with excitement when a deer or deer track was spotted.

I guess I was born with the love of the outdoors and have my parents to thank for recognizing that love and helping me develop that deep feeling into a life long passion. I now spend hundreds of hours in the woods each year prior to, during and after bear, turkey and wolf hunting season scouting for new productive areas. Your success is now my passion.

We hunt a vast game rich area that is perfectly suited for the black bear, turkey and wolf. In fact our primary hunting area of Price County is ranked 4th in North America for producing the most Boone & Crocket bears. Price County also gives up many Pope & Young animals every year, while having the highest density of black bears in Wisconsin. We begin baiting once a week beginning the first week in July with a wide variety of quality baits and gradually increase the baiting frequency until we’re baiting daily, two weeks before the season opener.  This technique conditions the bears in our areas to visit our baits frequently, often times more than once a day while they’re out foraging for food.

Our baits are strategically placed on both private and public lands in areas where bears are comfortable visiting during daylight hours.  Establishing baits where natural preferred foods are available also helps ensure daylight visits and has given us an overall harvest rate of 82% with 97% opportunity.

Our baits are located within twenty yards of our pre-hung stands or ground blinds so every stand location is suitable for archers.  We take into consideration whether your left or right handed and position the stands accordingly.  Our gun hunters seem to enjoy being archery close as well.  The thrill and heart pounding excitement of having a black bear appear out of nowhere and be so close to you that you can hear him panting is an unforgettable experience.

We generally hunt afternoon/evenings, which allows you the opportunity to spend your mornings fishing, relaxing or maybe running baits with your guide if that’s something you would like to participate in.  If you would like to sit your stand all day or perhaps mornings and evenings we can easily accommodate that request.

When I am not in the forest I run a full service taxidermy business and in my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors in the north woods with my wife and two girls. I work very hard to ensure your time spent hunting with us is enjoyable, relaxing and successful and would welcome the opportunity to share my passion for the outdoors with you.
